Fall 2010 Program Update

Berrien Springs Schools' Administration is constantly integrating Project Based Learning into their educational philosophy and programs, partly as a result of their partnership with the homeschool community.  We are always adding new, exciting classes to what we offer based on families' feedback and school support.  College dual enrollment classes, fab lab, robotics, swim & gym, art, music and more are some of the free, optional classes available.  Class choices that meet registration requirements include a popular field trip class, drama, speech/debate/forensics, and entrepreneurship.   A variety of virtual classes in non-core subjects are available, including most Rosetta Stone languages.  The school is considering an orchestra program, on-site team robotics, and a nature study class that would all help to meet the seated class requirement.   New elementary virtuals are also in the planning stage for fall.  All classes are free to students enrolled as part-time Berrien Springs students, regardless in which school district the student resides.
We will begin registration for new and current families around mid-August, and close registration after the first week of school.  This is a shorter registration window than we've had before, but information on the program is always available at the school's website: www.homeoftheshamrocks.org. Click on "our schools", then "homeschool partnership" to view our home page and the multiple links thereafter.  Registration will be time stamped and classes filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so everyone will have equal opportunity once registration opens.
If you have questions about the program, please feel free to email Sharon Haynes, Partnership Director, at gandsplus3@sbcglobal.net or call 269- 429-4004.  Your email address can be added to our list of interested families who would like to keep updated on the latest Partnership news and registration information.
